The big 30

I turn 30 in less 4 months. I keep seeing all the blog posts about "30 before 30". I haven't made a list and don't have a whole year to "do" thirty things. Should I make a list? I really only had one goal and I'm not going to reach it (I wanted to run a full marathon 26.2 miles) I'm wondering if I need a list to help me celebrate my 30th birthday. Any suggestion?

TOMS

I just bought my 5th pair of TOMS. They are a little different...they are wedges! I wanted to get the black and the light green but I thought this was a good place to start.

A new kind of love story...kind of

I like reading, OK I love reading! I love going to Pita Jungle and reading a good book while eating hummus with chicken.

The Last book I finished reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. It takes the classic book by Ms. Austen and puts a twist on it.

There is the first line: "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains" The story follows the plot of Pride and Prejudice, but places the novel in an alternative universe version of Regency-era England where zombies roam the English countryside. Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters live on a countryside estate with their parents. Mr. Bennet guides his daughters in martial arts and weapons training, molding them into a fearsome zombie-fighting army; meanwhile, Mrs. Bennet endeavours to marry the girls off to wealthy suitors. When the wealthy and single Mr. Bingley purchases a nearby house, Mrs. Bennet spies an opportunity and sends the girls to the first ball where Bingley is expected to appear. The girls defend the party from a zombie attack, and attraction sparks between Mr. Bingley and the eldest daughter Jane Bennet. Elizabeth, however, clashes with Bingley's friend, the haughty monster-hunter Fitzwilliam Darcy.....and we all know the rest of the story, well kind of. The book basically ends the same as Ms. A's but with a slightly morbid turn.

This picture is of the four sisters fighting
off the Zombies at the first ball
of the novel in which they meet Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy

It is a good short-ish read. Even my 23 yr old brother said he might want to read about it when I told him the plot. What do you think Jane Austen would say about this book?

Smooth Sailing??

I have 3 weeks until I leave on my cruise to the Western Caribbean (actually 18 days). In those 18 days this is what I have or want to do:

*I have 127 appointment (as of right now).

*I want to lose a million pounds, ok I would settle for 9 lbs.
**I'd love to look like this :) **

*2 musicals The Drowsy Chaperon and Avenue Q
*at some point I need to pack....
*work 2 temple shifts

*work out/run (remember my goal to run a full marathon before im 30...)

*get nails did (have to have good nails on a trip or they start popping off)
*facial appointment (if I skip one my face rebels and looks like a 14 yrs old boy going though puberty)
*clean house

I also have to sleep, eat, do laundry, bills and other random things. I love going on trips but its hard work getting ready for them. Maybe one of these days I wont make myself crazy the couple weeks before I leave so I actually am excited and not stressed out when I leave.

Thought for the day...

out to be a retard in tinfoil."

We might all be witches sometimes.

How I feel some days...

"I think... no, I am positive... that you are the most unattractive man I have ever met in my entire life. You know, in the short time we've been together, you have demonstrated EVERY loathsome characteristic of the male personality and even discovered a few new ones. You are physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, you're morally reprehensible, vulgar, insensitive, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humor and you smell. You're not even interesting enough to make me sick."

If I had my way...

In the last few weeks I have been thinking dating sucks. Yes, its a big surprise coming from a sinlge gal of the age of twenty and nine. One of the things that sucks is you dont know what you're getting yourself into when you meet a guy. You assume he is normal and not some freak with issues. But more aften than not he is. Especially if he is over the age of 27 and hasnt been in a relationship for a few years.

So I have decided there should be some website that you can go to and see what their rating is. We would call it the "dating consumer report". You could type in a name and city and see what other people have said about the person in question. We do the same thing when we are buying a car, tv, music or even going to the movies. We look at their "Review". We see how many stars consumers have given the product.

For example when I decided to get a new duvet cover online I read all the "feedback" from pervious customers. It helped me decide if that was the one I really wanted. I knew how it felt, washed and looked before I actually purchased it. I want the same thing with a man. I want to know if he opens doors, was married, has a temper or is really bad at returning phone calls BEFORE I get involved with him. it would save to much time. Some will say that it takes the fun out of dating. I dont remember the last time dating was "fun". Im 29 yrs old and want to skip the "crap" if at all possible.

This is an idea I dont think will ever come to pass but if it does I have a few things to say about a few guys.....

All you need is Love...so they say

While walking/running on the boring treadmill last night I came across this quote and thought I would share it.

"Love does not consist in gazing at each other
but in looking outward
together in the same direction."

Im in love with a dead guy.

One of my favorite things to do is to watch old movie (yes even black and whites). I love most of them. Give me a movie with either Cary Grant, Clark Gable, John Wayne, Gene Kelly, June Allyson, Maureen O'Hara or Doris Day (my list could go on and on) and Im all set. BUT my favorite man for the moment and I dont know if it will change is ......(drum roll please).....

VAN JOHNSON

Feel Free to check out some of his movies. I am sad to say dont own any of his movies myself but I thank my lucky stars for TCM! I am actually in the process of ordering Two girls and a Sailor which also stars June Allyson and Gloria DeHaven. That is one of my FAVORITES!!! He basically plays the boy next door and has an adorable smile. He also sings and plays the piano.

"Two Girls and a Sailor"

I would recomend to anyone wanting to watch a sweet love story to check out some of his movies. But beware old movies arent always so sweet and inocent.

Van Johnson movies I have seen:
The Bride Goes Wild (1948)
In the Good Old Summertime (1949)
Brigadoon (1954)
Miracle in the Rain (1956)
Yours, Mine and Ours (1968)
Miracle in the Rain (1956)

I hope to see more. I could have actually written this about many of the men of OLD HOLLYWOOD. I think they all had much, much more talent. So this is my salute to one of the great men of old movies.

Lemons...

We all know the old Proverb "When Life Gives you Lemons, Make Lemonade." My thought is....What if I dont want to make lemonade?

Well, here is a few more answers to the Question: "When life gives you lemons..."

Just shut up & eat the damn lemons.

Sell them on ebay

Hit them back at life with a tennis racket/bat/etc.

Make Sweet Lemonade!

Squirt them people's eyes

Donate them to the poor

Throw them at mean people in the street and hope it gets them in the eyes.

Make lemonade, find someone whose life gives them vodka, and have a party.

Ask life where he gets all these lemons

Make apple juice to confuse people...

Make grape juice, then sit back and let them wonder how you did it.

When life gives you lemons when no one is looking, throw them through life’s window and run away.

When life gives you lemons, find a kid with a paper cut

When life gives you lemons, ask for the receipt
